About the event

Marking a century since Kirkcaldy Galleries first opened its doors, Collecting the Contemporary celebrates Scotland’s vibrant art scene with an extraordinary showcase of works by modern and contemporary artists.

🖌️ Featuring pieces from icons such as John Bellany, Ken Currie, Callum Innes, and Jon Schueler, alongside a brand new painting by Dunfermline-born artist Caroline Walker, created specially for the centenary.

Curated by Lily Barnes, this free exhibition connects the gallery’s historic legacy - once dubbed the “Tate of the North” - with the creativity of Scotland’s present day.
